Wendy Jo Carlton, USA, 2009, 90 min
The original P-flag mom, and more recently, the fabulous Nip-Tuck psycho killer, Sharon Gless stars in this film about two small girls from the Midwest, who turn into teen lovers then lifelong partners but also grow into two very different, individualistic women. Now, later in life as Hannah is refused visitation rights by Rachel’s family, she is forced to reflect back on the love affair of a lifetime whilst she navigates institutional road blocks to catch a final glimpse of her greatest love. Both funny and revealing, Hannah Free shows us a relationship that endures social mores, family obligations, infidelities and the complication of gender roles.
