Haim Tabakman, Israel, 2009, 90 min, subtitled

This exceptional feature debut achieved great acclaim in Cannes last year, and we are pleased to bring it back to Sydney. In a closed, Orthodox community on the edges of Jerusalem, Aaron, a married man and father of four becomes romantically involved with his handsome young assistant, Ezri, a religious outcast.  The pair become targets of local panic, their shop is stoned and they are visited by the Decency Police, but still, their love and lust continues to burn at the risk of losing everything. A stunning cast, deft direction and beautiful cinematography make for a powerful and compelling film.
