Dendy Newtown

Adam Salky, USA, 2009, 90 min

Based on their award-winning short from 2006, this feature debut of the same name, takes the tension of that moment in time and fleshes out the back story and consequences.  Best friends Ben and Alexa are both keen on resident outsider Johnny Drake. Not sure which way he swings, they both take drastic measures to make themselves more appealing to him, both with some success. As the love triangle tangles, loyalties are divided and expectations are both raised and dashed. An excellent example of the teen-romantic-angst genre blooming with original and unexpected execution, completed with an utterly enjoyable cast and a director to keep an eye on.
